Planning for your Honeymoon

The honeymoon is a special time together as newlyweds, but without careful planning it could fall flat from what the couple thought it would be. It is important to have a wedding planner cover the details of the wedding and reception, so why plan a honeymoon without a honeymoon specialist?

Soon after engagement, couples should make an appointment with a specialist for a complimentary discussion of specific details of their honeymoon. This appointment will be the time to discuss the type of honeymoon and desired destination that the couple wishes to spend these memorable moments as husband and wife.

In the early planning stage, couples may find that they don’t agree on everything, so review these questions:

  • Where have you visited in the past?
  • Do you enjoy warm or cold weather?
  • Would you want to aboard a cruise ship or have a land-based vacation?
  • Would you like and adventure-filled vacation, or are you looking to relax?

The answers to these questions will help narrow down the type of honeymoon that the couple will treasure forever!

After the decision of the destination has been made, book it (even if it is over a year) for a small refundable payment up to the final payment. This is important because the best value spots fill as much as a year in advance. It is also important to obtain any proper documentation if traveling outside the US, such as a passport. The US government requires the passport to be active for six months; an expired or soon-to-be expired passport is not acceptable, so please allow plenty of time to acquire passports.

A great way to attain the “little extras” for the honeymoon or to pay for the honeymoon is to use a honeymoon specialist that offers a bridal registry. Along with the registered places, the “little extras” are small cards enclosed with the invitations. Guests will have the choice to contribute to your honeymoon and allow the couple to have that “something extra” (maybe a couple’s massage) to enjoy together!

There is an affordable honeymoon waiting! Early planning is the key!
