First Alert Weather: Rain chances remain high as weak low pressure nears the Suncoast

Sarasota, FL (WWSB) -  A weak area of low pressure will be moving around Florida this weekend which will bring a much better chance for showers and thunderstorms.

This system is not expected to develop into anything too significant as upper level winds will be marginal for organization.

It has however moistened up our atmosphere which will bring a much better chance for some more widespread showers and thunderstorms, some of which could dump some heavy rain at times.

Clouds will be on the increase in the afternoon and highs will be in the mid 80s near the coast and upper 80s inland.

The National Hurricane Center now gives this system a 40% chance of developing into a tropical depression or storm over the next 2 days.

We will continue to monitor this situation over the weekend.
