First Alert Weather: Rain chances increasing as disturbance moves Northward

Sarasota, FL (WWSB) - A weak area of low pressure is expected to develop just South of Florida and head North.

It does not appear that this system will be a big storm, but it could become a tropical depression or a weak tropical storm over the next couple of days.

The most favored path would take it north along the E. Coast of Florida.  This would still bring us plenty of tropical moisture.

The rain chances will stay high through the weekend and into early next week.  Conditions may become somewhat favorable for development over the next 2-3 days and then shear should prevent this system from getting strong.

Forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies on Friday with increasing cloudiness later in the day with a good chance for showers and thunderstorms.  Some of the storms could bring some heavy rain at times.

Highs will be in the upper 80s for most areas.  It looks as though this unsettled pattern will persist through the weekend and through Monday.
