SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota Military Academy has been presented with a unique piece of art for its students.

The bust is titled "Tribute to the Everyday Soldier." Its presentation was accompanied by a poem by former Marine and Vietnam veteran Russ Carthy.

Sarasota artist Bonnie Chisling describes her inspiration for creating the work of art. "So I gave it a great deal of thought and I decided that nobody honors the everyday soldiers, I believe that's my term; the guy or the woman that’s out in the field that’s in combat day after day, hour after hour, doing the grunge work and getting very little of the glory."

The statue will be placed in the halls at the academy for students and visitors to see.
