Several great events are taking place around the Suncoast to honor our local military veterans on Saturday Nov. 11th 2017.
SARASOTA VETERANS DAY PARADE
The Venice Middle Young Marines and groups from other schools will march in the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Sarasota. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue. At 11:30 a.m. two F-16 fighter jets will fly over the closing ceremony at J.D. Hamel Park.
MANATEE COUNTY VETERANS CEREMONY
The parade will step off at 11 a.m. from Manatee County Fairgrounds, 1402 14th Ave. W., and end at Sutton Park.
LONGBOAT KEY VETERANS DAY PARADE AND HONOR PROGRAM
Join ABC 7 anchors Jacqueline Matter and Ray Collins at this event honoring Suncoast military veterans. The parade begins at 11 a.m. down Bay Isles Rd.
VETERANS DAY CEREMONY IN NORTH PORT
11 a.m. at Veterans Park, 13750 Tamiami Trail, North Port. The ceremony will include speeches and patriotic songs.
VETERANS DAY MASS
The 8th Annual Veterans Day Catholic Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Frank Dewane at 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72 (Clark Road exit). All are encouraged to arrive early.
Ample parking is provided, along with handicapped parking and golf cart availability to shuttle those in need of extra assistance.
