Venice, FL - More participants are needed for the Venice Boat Parade, or the event might have to be cancelled this year.

So far, organizers say they don't have enough boats to put on the event and the deadline to enter is Thursday.

In an effort to boost registrations, the Freedom Boat Club has offered to pay the entry fee for the first 50 boats.  Prospective captains can call John Giglio at (941) 451-8756 for more info.

7 South newsroom reporter Josh Taylor is taking a look at the effort to save the 2013 Venice Holiday Boat Parade.
