Venice fire station not up to storm code

VENICE, FL - The city's downtown fire station, built in the mid 1970's, is not up to current storm standards.

This has some in the community concerned that the first responders who  work there will not be safe in the event of a major storm, and in turn won't be able to serve the community.

Improvements to bring the building up to code could cost more than $2 million.
