I am also a parent from Brentwood. I was very angry at first that I didn't get a call until 4:55pm. The school was not put on lock down at all over the incident. I understand why the didn't call the parents immediately. As a parent, I know a lot of us would run right over to the school to pick our children up which would have caused more of a problem and panic in the children. However, we should have received a call at dismissal time so we were prepared when we saw our children. My son was home for almost 2 hours before I was aware of it. Also, I have many questions on how this was handle, such as how long did it take for them to obtain the gun when the teacher was notified. Was just a minute or two or was it ten minutes. To me this makes a big different on weather there should have been a lock down. Will the student be allowed to return to school. Also, what is the school doing to assure the safety of my child from this point. I was told by another parent that just a few weeks ago a child was threatening to cut another students head off. Also on the same day of the gun incident, a student told me that another student left campus set something on fire and ran back to campus. There was smoke and firetrucks around the school area at student pick up, so I am not sure how accurate this is. With all this, yes I am concerned and I do think that a sweep of the school should be done.9 months ago
