How sad this situation is.. the death of a baby at a daycare is covered in the news and there are people like blackdog1 and a citizen who feel the need to comment negatively towards the family, trying to place blame on them.
Do you really think the news covered the entire story and all the details in the 3 minutes of air time? Do you realize it's totally offensive to assume that the parents didn't research this daycare? On the DCF website at that time, they were listed as a registered daycare. There were children there that had been going there for 5 years continuously. Would those parents have been to blame if it was their child that died that day since the Carbones were dishonest with them too and had no idea even after the death of this baby that they were not allowed to watch children? The Carbones were trained, they had been working as an at home day care for many years and the Carbones had just renewed their CPR the week before this happened, however, since it's unknown what exactly happened at that day care that morning, it's unknown how long of a delay there was before finding the baby and starting CPR.
And technically, this report is titled incorrectly. It is not the family suing the daycare, it is the State of Florida that has recognized that the Carbones are in the wrong, they broke the law, the State is charging them with operating a daycare without a valid license.
You're right, it's not just the Carbones to blame, it's DCF who didn't regulate this daycare correctly at that time or at this time. Go ahead and call DCF and ask them how they follow through with Daycares such as this one and you may get the same response, that they don't follow through because they "don't want to harass them"4 months ago
