UPDATE, 2:53pm, 12/16/13: Judge sentences Deshon Thomas to life in prison - plus life - plus 30 years.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The man accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and her brother is in court this morning for sentencing.

A Leon County jury convicted Deshon Thomas in October of 2013 for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Laquecia Herring, 20, and her 17-year-old brother Sterling Connor, Junior. Their bodies were found January 28, 2011 at Herring's townhome in the Wolf Creek subdivision in southwest Leon County.

Thomas was just 17 years old at the time of the murder but was charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder.

Thomas was also convicted of one count of solicitation to commit first-degree murder after prosecutors say Thomas worked from jail to try to get a witness in the case killed.

Monday morning, the judge is hearing from friends and family of Herring, Connor, and Thomas.
