SARASOTA -- Sarasota County firefighters say they have a two alarm fire under control after a passerby noticed smoke coming from a residence, and contacted authorities.

Late Wednesday afternoon, fire crews responded to a home on the 3000th block of San Remo Terrace in Sarasota, which is near the North Siesta Key Bridge. Crews on scene said the two-story home was vacant and under construction for remodeling.

They had initially reported heavy smoke coming from the home, in addition to heavy fire on one side of it. Authorities have since reported that they managed to get the fire under control. As of Wednesday night, there is no report on what may have caused the fire.
