CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - State Troopers have made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed two people last year. Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol determined that Michel Brutus, 25, was the driver of a 2015 Nissan Versa that was involved in the crash.
The single vehicle crash happened at 2:07 a.m. on December 5, 2016 on US 41 near Harbor Boulevard.
Investigators say Brutus left scene of the crash that killed two passengers, 21-year-olds Wesley Chery and Brittany Beni.
Brutus was taken to the Charlotte County Jail and is charged with two felony counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving death, and reporting false information to law enforcement.
