DENVER, Co. (Ivanhoe Newswire) -- Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs. Just decades ago, children born with CG would live only into their teens. Today, the life expectancy has increased to 37 and a new miracle drug is expected to have even better results.
The ABC 7 Amazing Woman this week is Alexandria Twigg. Alexandria will be 18 in Oct. She's our youngest Amazing Woman ever. But she has certainly earned the title. Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at age 9, she immediately started making speeches all over the community for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her younger sister was also diagnosed with CF, and the family has raised some $300,000 to fight the disease.
