Teachers set to get raises and homeowners will foot the bill

SARASOTA, FL.---- After 3 years without a raise teachers across the state get ready for a salary increase.  The measure is a mandate that was approved by state legislators last session.  

According to school board officials those raises will be funded by property taxes.  For Sarasota county it means a mileage rate increase of .154% for a total rate of 4.722%. Manatee county residents will see an increase of .03% making their mileage 5.34%.  Coming up at 6 we explore what this increase will mean for you.
