BRADENTON, Fla. - The Manatee County School District is recommending suspension for one of the most well-known high school football coaches in the country.
Manatee High’s Joe Kinnan is facing 10 days suspension without pay.
This comes in the wake of an investigation into the school's former baseball coach, Dwayne Strong, during which the school district says Kinnan was not fully cooperative.
According to an investigative report by the district, Kinnan "failed to maintain honesty in his professional dealings" during the investigation involving Strong. And that he "intentionally omitted information and/or provided false and/or misleading information" regarding Strong's financial arrangements.
Kinnan is accused by the district, along with former Assistant Superintendent Bob Gagnon, of improperly steering school funds to a business owned by Strong.
Earlier this month, Kinnan announced he was stepping down from his position as Athletic Director.
Dwayne Strong resigned from his position as baseball coach last month.
