VENICE, Fla. - A plan to lengthen the Legacy Trail from Clark Road into downtown Sarasota is gaining momentum. How will it be paid for is the big question.
Those with Friends of the Legacy Trail says it could cost upwards of $34 million to buy the old railroad tracks, pave a path, and build bridges over major intersections. They say they have verbal support from local government officials but financial support isn't easy.
Currently it's believed more than 150,000 users per year take to the riding, walking, and running path.
Coming up this evening at 5pm we will have the latest. Including where the money could come from and how residents are being asked to help.
