DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - The parents of a Florida A&M University student who was killed in a hazing ritual are hosting community forums to educate the public on hazing and bullying.

WGCL-TV ( ) reports Pam and Robert Champion Sr. hosted a community meeting Saturday in Decatur, Ga. Their son, Robert, was killed in a marching band hazing incident nearly two years ago.

Pam Champion says she and her husband felt compelled to reach out to other families to help other parents avoid the type of loss her family has experienced.

Robert Champion Jr. was a drum major at Florida A&M University and died after being beaten in November 2011 after game in Orlando.

Panelist Ivory Lucky told the audience that physical punishment isn't worth joining organizations, regardless of how important they may seem.
