NOKOMIS, FL - It's the first day of stone crab season and already locals are dining on the Florida delicacy. Tuesday crabbers unloading at places like A.P. Bell Fish Co. in Bradenton. First thing Tuesday morning we found some on plates at Captain Eddie's Seafood in Nokomis. Going price there between $25 and $32 a pound depending on the size.

After a slow season last year the industry is hoping for a bounce back. Consumers says they're, well, ready to consume. "They are delectable. The creature still lives instead of dies. Better the lobster, " says a man named Snuff. "I had the calendar set."

Stone crab season runs Oct 15th through May 15th. We will have much more this evening on ABC 7.
