SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Today's forecast calls for a few clouds during the morning hours, then becoming mostly sunny by this afternoon, with highs in the mid 80's. The widespread sunshine is due to dry air filtering in behind a cold front that swept through the area during the overnight.
Dew points (the measure of moisture in the atmosphere) up in the panhandle, are currently in the low 50's, while they're in the mid to upper 70's along the Suncoast. But as the dryer air migrates southward, any clouds lingering in the sky will be eroded, so by this afternoon and tonight, we'll be left with clear skies.
High pressure moves in over the weekend, and with dry air and low humidity in place, the weather will feel wonderful (highs in the mid 80's/lows in the low 70's, but not sticky).
However, as we move into early to mid next week, the winds will eventually shift back to the east and southeast again, bringing back more moisture to the area. So expect the rain chance to increase to around 40-50% by mid next week.
Have a Happy Friday everyone, and enjoy our beautiful weather over the upcoming weekend!
