BRADENTON, FL. (WWSB) - The City of Bradenton is cracking down on false alarm calls.
City officials call the false alarms costly and time consuming. The Bradenton City Council has voted to revise it's security alarm ordinance.
The change will bring in an outside agency to investigate false alarms.
The law change will also increase fines. Previously fines would start at $100 dollars after the 4th offense and rise to $500 dollars as false alarms continued to be made.
Now fines totaling $75 dollars will be issued after the first false alarm is sent in. One business owner says while he's happy about the monitoring of false alarms, the fines can really add up.
