BRADENTON, Fla. - Today is opening day for Spring Training baseball on the Suncoast! Grapefruit League action officially begins in Bradenton.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are hosting the New York Yankees at 1:05pm this afternoon.

The Pirates are looking to build on a successful 2013, which found them in the playoffs for the first time since 1992.

This will be the beginning of the end for Yankees star Derek Jeter, who announced earlier this month that he will retire at the end of this season.  Jeter, however he do not make the trip to Bradenton and will not play Wednesday.

ABC 7 will have a recap of the game tonight on ABC 7 News at 5.
