MIAMI - The San Antonio Spurs were on the verge of winning their 5th NBA Championship Tuesday night, but a funny thing happened on the way there. What happened was one of the best games in NBA Finals history.

The Spurs led Game 6 by 10 points heading into the 4th quarter. They hold that lead, and they are champs once again. But the Heat would not go away gently into that good night.

"The ups and downs, the rollercoaster, the good and bad throughout the game," said Lebron James of the Miami Heat.

Down by 5 with 28 seconds to play, James buried a 3. Then on the next possession, down by 3, he missed one but Chris Bosh was there for a huge rebound and the kick out to Ray Allen, who with 5 seconds left tied the game to send it to overtime. "When I seen CB get the ball, I just back-pedaled to the 3 point line. I wasn't sure if I was there, but from years of shooting I got to my spot," said Allen.

Lebron scored 16 points in the 4th quarter while losing his signature headband. That could have been disastrous. “I was just trying to be aggressive and trying to figure out how to get us back in the game. I guess the headband was the least of my worries at that point."

The Heat went on to win in overtime, 103-100, tying the series and making it a win-or-go-home 1-game series. "To be a part of something like this is something you can never recreate, once you are done playing the game. And I am blessed to be part of this game," said James.

"Bad…this is very bad. It is a tough moment. We were a few seconds away from winning the championship," said San Antonio’s Manu Ginobli.

Game 7 is Thursday night in Miami and can be seen on ABC 7.
