CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Friday Night Lights are coming to Miami, at least for the 2013 season-opener.
The Miami Hurricanes will open next season at home Aug. 30 against Florida Atlantic, one day earlier than planned. The move was somewhat surprising, since Fridays are typically for high school football in the Sunshine State.
The Friday opener gives Miami an extra day to prepare for a Week 2 game at home with Florida, part of a schedule where the Hurricanes leave their home state once before mid-November.
Miami is also home for Savannah State (Sept. 21), Georgia Tech (Oct. 5), Wake Forest (Oct. 26), Virginia Tech (Nov. 9) and Virginia (Nov. 23).
The Hurricanes travel to South Florida (Sept. 28), North Carolina (Oct. 17), Florida State (Nov. 2), Duke (Nov. 16) and Pittsburgh (Nov. 29).
