Sean Rodriguez was born in Miami, Fla. and selected in the third round in the 2003 June Draft by the Los Angeles Angels.
He made his Major League debut with the Angels on April 19, 2008 but was acquired by the Rays in 2009 as part of the Scott Kazmir trade. Rodriguez made his first career Opening Day start in 2010 and spent his first full season in the majors after setting several spring training club records.
The 2011 season was the second consecutive year he batted everywhere in the lineup, with the exception of cleanup. He was also one of six major leaguers to start at all four infield positions.
Sean has countless friends and family members in Miami, and each season when the Rays visit the Marlins his family hosts a barbecue with 50 or more people in attendance.
