Luke Scott spent four seasons with the Baltimore Orioles before joining the Rays as a free agent prior to the 2012 season. The 33-year-old hit a career-high 27 HR and was named Most Valuable Oriole by members of the Baltimore media following the 2010 season.

The De Leon Springs, Fla. native was signed to be the Rays’ primary designated hitter, but is capable of playing first base and either corner outfield spot defensively, as well.

Prior to his professional career, Scott attended Oklahoma State University and led the Cowboys in home runs in each of his two seasons there. Scott has played winter ball in Venezuela and is fluent in Spanish, and has brought supplies, medicine and baseball equipment to the residents there in each of the past three winters. Scott is also an avid hunter and took down a wild boar with a spear this winter on a hunting trip in Live Oak, Fla., with his brother, Noah.
