Since bursting onto the scene in 2008, Evan Longoria has become not only the face of the Tampa Bay Rays, but one of the premier superstars in all of the MLB. The 3-time All-Star, 2-time Gold Glove Award winner, and 2008 Rookie of the Year signed a 10-year, $136 million contract this offseason that will keep him in a Rays uniform through at least 2022. Although a hamstring injury kept him sidelined for over half of the 2012 season, the third-baseman is optimistic that his offseason surgery will keep him healthy and allow him to once again lead the Rays to the playoffs.
Evan recently became a father for the first time as his girlfriend Jaime Edmondson gave birth to their daughter Elle on February 20, 2013. In addition to being a tremendous player on the field, Longo enjoys many hobbies off the field. He is passionate about cooking and food and plans to open his first restaurant, Ducky’s, in the near future. He has also become quite the classic car enthusiast and recently bought a second-generation ’71 Camaro.
