Desmond Jennings was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 10th round of the 2006 June Draft and is one of the Rays "homegrown" stars.

Jennings was a three-sport star (baseball, football, basketball) in high school at Pinson Valley High in Birmingham, Ala. In 2009, he was named the Rays Minor League Player of the Year and was named the Rays No. 1 prospect by Baseball America.

In 2011, Jennings emerged as the Rays’ leadoff hitter and left fielder after being recalled from Triple-A Durham on July 23. His first career walk-off home run was on September 7, 2011 to give the Rays their 1,000th win in franchise history. From the date of his call-up through the end of the 2011 season, he led the Rays in runs, hits, steals and was 2nd in home runs.

This past off-season, Jennings adopted a pit bull puppy named Kane. In his free time, he likes to play NBA 2K12, Call of Duty and also enjoys bowling.
