SARASOTA - The Sarasota Thunder introduced its first ever head coach Wednesday, and he's no stranger to local football fans.

Former Booker High School and USF star Greg Walls will coach the team in its inaugural season in the Ultimate Indoor Football League in 2013.

The Thunder will play seven home games in Robarts Arena beginning in late February or early March.

Walls is thrilled to have the chance to coach here at home -- and with his former coach at Booker, Fred Gilmore, who will be his defensive coordinator.

"We’re just happy for the opportunity. These guys believe in me, and I believe in them, and we're trying to bring a championship to Sarasota, Florida," said Walls.

“It's a chance to work with good people; the owners are tremendous people, and then the fact we're giving a product to Sarasota is above and beyond what I could ask and think," said Gilmore.

The first player signed to the team is quarterback Marquel Neasman, who starred at Southeast High School and later played at Grand Valley State.
