MANATEE COUNTY - The top high school football rivalry in Florida resides in Manatee County, according to a national newspaper poll.
USA Today had asked readers to vote for the best rivalry in Florida, and Suncoast football fans responded by naming Manatee High Hurricanes versus Southeast High Seminoles as the top rivalry in the state, topping Lely vs. Naples, and Pahokee vs. Belle Glade Central.
Now the contest goes national. Voters have just over 6 days to push the local rivalry to the regional round of the contest. Four winners will be selected, and then one grand prize winner will be chosen.
The rivalry with the most votes receives $10,000 to be split between the two schools. So to vote for Manatee vs. Southeast, head to contest.usatodayhss.com/vote/south
Voting for the regional winners ends Wednesday, December 12th at 11am.
