MANATEE COUNTY - One of Manatee High’s former standouts is headed to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Palmetto native and Manatee High graduate Tommie Frazier is among 12 players and two coaches chosen for the hall.

After a stand out career with the Manatee Hurricanes, Frazier went to the University of Nebraska, where the quarterback led the Cornhuskers to a pair of national championships. In fact, after the second title, Palmetto hosted a Tommie Frazier Day, which included a key to the city and a parade.

Joining Frazier in the hall this year are former Gators quarterback Danny Wuerffel and Heisman winner Vinny Testaverde from the University of Miami.

The induction ceremony is set for December.
