Every game counts now with the playoffs right around the corner, and there's no doubt Venice would like to have Friday night's game back.

In a big district game at home versus Largo, the Indians lost by just one point 22-21. The Venice defense held the Packers scoreless during the first half, but Largo came out swinging in the second to win the game. Venice now has two losses on the season, and will be off next week.

Manatee is on its way to yet another undefeated season as they beat St. Petersburg on the road 51-13. Manatee takes on undefeated University School from Ft. Lauderdale next week.

As for the smaller schools, Cardinal Mooney impressed once again after a dominant victory over Out-of-Door Academy, 62-0, earning them a spot in the playoffs. The Cougars are at home next week hosting Victory Christian, then will face off against Bishop Verot to decide the Class 3A-6 champions.

Down in Charlotte County, undefeated Port Charlotte and Charlotte earned playoff spots with victories Friday night.  The two will face off in two weeks to decide the Class 7A-11 championship.
