VENICE, Fla. -- Not even rain and lightning can stop the Venice Indians. In one of the few games that actually kicked off this Friday night, Venice defeated Mater Academy Charter out of Miami, 14-7. Venice now improves to (5-0), and remains one of only a few undefeated teams on the Suncoast.

It's Week 3 already of the 2014 high school football season, and this week's Game of the Week was a battle of two major Sarasota County programs: Venice at Riverview.

In Week 2 of high school football action around the Suncoast, the Venice Indians proved once again they are this year's team to beat. In what some may call a shocking loss for the Port Charlotte Pirates, the Indians defeated the team 35-6.

The 2014 high school football season officially kicked off Friday night with a matchup of two powerhouse Suncoast teams: Palmetto at Venice.  And that was this week's Game of the Week.
