MANATEE COUNTY - The Florida High School Athletic Association has released their tentative reclassification plans, and nearly half of the Suncoast schools may find themselves in new classes for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years.

Under the proposed classifications, Suncoast powerhouse Manatee High, which won the Class 7A championship in 2011, would make the jump up to Class 8A, the largest classification in the state.

Sarasota's Riverview High would remain in 8A, but North Port High would be downgraded to 7A.

Three schools that played in 7A in 2012 could be downgraded as well. Venice and Port Charlotte would move to 6A, and Lemon Bay would play in 5A.

Lakewood Ranch is slated to move from 6A to 7A.  Palmetto would move from 5A to 6A.

Out-of-Door Academy and St. Stephen's would move from 2A to 3A.

Newcomer Imagine School North Port, which fielded its first team as an independent in 2012, would begin play in Class 2A.

Schools that are unhappy with their new matchups must file an appeal to FHSAA by January 18th to request a new district.
