GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida offensive lineman Jessamen Dunker has been released from the Alachua County Jail.
Judge Denise R. Ferrero released Dunker on his own recognizance Thursday, a day after the redshirt freshman was arrested and charged with stealing a scooter. Ferrero told Dunker to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Dunker is charged with vehicle theft, a third-degree felony, and driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
He was pulled over for riding a scooter on campus without a license plate. After police checked, it was determined the scooter had been reported stolen.
But Dunker's attorney, Huntley Johnson, says his client paid $600 for the scooter and was unaware it had been stolen.
Dunker, from Boynton Beach, is expected to battle for a starting job this spring.
