GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida has added another player to its signing class.
Punter Johnny Townsend signed a national letter of intent Thursday, becoming the 29th player in the 2013 class.
Townsend averaged 44.6 yards a punt as a senior at Boone High in Orlando.
Townsend, who also played safety and quarterback in high school, likely will spend two years playing behind rising junior Kyle Christy.
Christy, a finalist for the Ray Guy Award as the nation's best punter, set a single-season school record by averaging 45.8 yards a punt in 2012.
Townsend is the only specialist in Florida's class, which includes seven defensive linemen, five offensive linemen, five receivers, four linebackers, four defensive backs, two running backs and a quarterback.
