PALMETTO, Fla. - Josh Hicks of Palmetto High School is already one of the top 10 all-purpose players in the country on offense. And he went above and beyond last Friday night.
Hicks made Harllee Stadium at Palmetto High his personal playground. "He's blessed, first of all. He's got great explosiveness. He's got flat out, breakaway speed. He also has great vision. He can see the holes, see the cuts," says head coach Dave Marino.
In a comeback win over Bayshore, the Tigers senior ran for 265 yards and 5 touchdowns. "It felt so good to be down 31 and comeback and win, it was just an amazing feeling," says Hicks.
Hicks now has over 400 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns in his last 2 games. He has committed to Rutgers after playing all 4 of his high school years on the varsity.
"He is a coach's dream. He is just the most coachable kid you could imagine. Whatever you ask him to do, he will do it. His work ethic is 100%. And like I said, his character is just...you know, he is just an unselfish player," says Marino.
Congratulations to Josh Hicks of the Palmetto Tigers. He is our ABC 7 Athlete of the Week.
