SARASOTA - The Booker Tornadoes are much improved under 2nd year head coach Johnnie Jones, and a major reason why is their personal Mack truck.
Last week against the undefeated Ida Baker Bulldogs, Marlon Mack ran for 2 touchdowns and caught another to bring his season total to 10.
"Well, I am trying to get the hang of it this season, and I think I am doing a pretty good job of it," says Mack.
Mack plays both ways for Booker after transferring from Sarasota two years ago. He has not skipped a beat.
"It’s amazing, because at any given moment you don't know whether it is going to be a big play, a touchdown, a first down, or a big hit or big play. It is exciting to watch Marlon on either side of the ball. It’s a joyous thing to do. I just call the play and he makes it happen," says Coach Jones.
Mack plays both ways, but his stronger feelings for one side of the line of scrimmage may not necessarily gel with what all the colleges that are chasing him want from him
“I say I like defense a little bit more.” But when asked which side he’s better at…. “Offense. (laughs). Some want me for offense, some for defense, and some for whichever I like," says Mack.
