NORTH PORT, Fla. - Every team needs at least one person who can do it all. And Leonard Faison is that guy on the North Port Bobcats football team.
Faison has carried the load -- and the rock -- for North Port all season long. In a recent win over Braden River, he scored 4 touchdowns.
"He is so versatile; we can ask anything of him. He plays receiver, running back, and anything on special teams," says North Port head coach Billy Huthman.
On the season he has done it both on the ground and in the air. He has 8 touchdown runs, and 8 touchdown catches. Plus he has over 1300 combined yards from scrimmage. "I just really want to be the best. My goal is to make it to college and one day maybe play in the pros. To do that, I have to keep working hard," says Faison.
Aside from being the go-to-guy on the field, his teammates look to him as someone to emulate. "Right now he is carrying a 3.2 GPA. The way I look at it, he wants to be perceived as someone who is great. That is what I see him doing in the future, too. I know when he leaves this campus and graduates he is going to go out and do great things. As a coach, that is gratifying," says Coach Huthman.
"It just feels really good that I have been able to help my team out the best that I could. It feels great," says Faison.
Congratulations to Leonard Faison, he is our ABC 7 Athlete of the Week.
