SARASOTA, FL- The Secretary of State is polling lawmakers on whether they want to hold a special session to discuss the controversial 'Stand Your Ground Law'.

The move came after The Florida Department of State received petitions from 20 percent of the legislators saying the issue warrants immediate legislative attention.  The representatives have seven days to respond to the poll.  3/5 of the members from both houses have to agree to a special session for it to commence.  So far 33 Democratic lawmakers have voiced their support.

Coming up at 6 you'll hear from local representatives about their take on the request for a special session.
