VENICE, FL - Those with Sarasota Memorial Hospital say they are already seeing around 75 patients per day at their new urgent care facility in Venice.
The facility opened up at the beginning of October where the Cape Cod seafood restaurant once stood. While all Sarasota County tax payers contribute to the publicly owned hospital the convenience of using some services is not always equal. "We really found that withing our network the Venice area was lacking," says Director of ambulatory services Jen Storch.
A tour of the facility Monday found a full staff with a physician on site. They also have all of the high tech equipment you might expect to deal with ailments, including a CT scan machine and mammogram equipment.
Open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm Storch says the facility has many advantages over going to the emergency room. "We can usually get patients in and out of our facility in under and hour." She also says it's cost about 25% of an ER visit.
We will have much more on this story coming up this evening on ABC 7.
