VENICE, FL - Sarasota Memorial Hospital opened a new urgent care site in south county this month.

The facility was built on the site of a former seafood restaurant along the U.S. 41 Bypass, and will service patients seven days a week.

There was some pushback from the Venice medical community, as the new site was built just down the road from Venice Regional Medical Center.

7 South Newsroom Reporter Josh Taylor is on the story.
