SARASOTA, Fla. -- Unprecedented changes are coming to the Sarasota city commission, after the announcements that its two Republican members are to step down to run for a county commission seat.

Commissioners Paul Caragiulo and Shannon Snyder had announced plans to step down and will be running against each other for the District 2 County Commission seat, effective November 18th.

That will leave the three remaining liberal-leaning commissioners to appoint replacements to fill the seats until March.
