SARASOTA, FL - Friday's traffic accident involving a school bus is raising questions about the safety practices of drivers.

More than one student told police officers that at some point before the crash, the driver was looking at a cell phone.

The driver admits looking at a phone, but only to check the time, and denies looking at the phone at the time of the crash.

Is it safe for drivers to be looking at a phone while behind the wheel of bus full of children?

What are the safety regulations and guidance they are given?

Could they safety measures be improved?

ABC 7 Reporter Ray Collins is on the story.
