SARASOTA, Fla. -Jakeilah R. Weeks, 24, of Tampa is facing charges of vehicular homicide, along with burglary, 2 counts battery, petit theft, and obstruction after an early morning crime spree police say.
Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, police were dispatched to a domestic situation and burglary attempt at a home in 1700 block of 29th Street in Sarasota.
Weeks had broken into the home of her ex-boyfriend and then fled the area. Upon arrival, officers were told Weeks, had just entered a vehicle and drove down Maple Avenue.
Officers on foot attempted to run after the vehicle, until they witnessed her crash into a home at 1728 32nd Street.
The victim of the deadly vehicle has been identified as Eleanor Ball, 62, of Sarasota, FL. She was sleeping inside the home when the crash occurred.
Ball was a prominent member of the community and was one of the “7 Who Care” nominees in 2012 on ABC 7.
