SARASOTA, FL--- The Sarasota School District is thinking outside of the box when it comes to getting students to behave. The district implemented what they call the Positive Behavior Support Program. PBS reward students for good behavior instead for punishing the bad behavior. The tactic has long been used by parents but area schools say the implementation has drastically reduced the number of misbehaved students which has resulted in an increase in students learning time.
Tuttle Elementary is one of the district schools who have implemented the programs. Officials there say they PBS is one of the reasons they have been able to maintain their "A" grade for several years.
Coming up on ABC-7 at 5 we take a closer look at the PBS program.
