SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - Some say it's property rights while others say the rentals ruin neighborhoods.

This week state leaders are looking at Senate Bill 356. It would give local governments limited control over of regulation of rentals but not to the extent many were seeking.

Some are arguing homes in single family neighborhoods have been turned into mini hotels. Impacting things like noise, trash, and parking problems.

However, vacation rental owners have argued it's a matter of property rights and protecting their investment.

Some of our local areas had rules on the books before 2011 so they are grandfathered in. We will have the latest coming this evening on ABC 7 @ 5.
