Charlotte County, Fla., - The plan to purchase a traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall and display it in Charlotte County, will now depend on donations from the public.

The Punta Gorda City Commission reportedly decided Wednesday to not use city funds to purchase the memorial.

The wall, recently retired from the traveling circuit, is on sale for $250,000.

Although commissioners support the idea of bringing the wall to the Punta Gorda, it's not within their financial means.

Several veterans organizations say they will begin fund raising for the project immediately.
