UPDATE: Flooding will not shut down I-75

UPDATE 9/14: The Florida Department of Transportation now says flooding is no longer a concern on I-75 at the Sante Fe River.

High water levels are impacting US 41 and US 27.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - There are concerns about possible flooding on  I-75 between Gainesville and Lake City.

As of Wednesday Sept. 13, the interstate is safe and passable. However, the Santa Fe River is rapidly rising and has gone up 15 feet in the past 36 hours.

If the river rises over the highway, I-75 will be shut down, potentially crippling southbound traffic and leading to significant delays Thursday evening through Saturday.

This would have a ripple effect on other alternate routes in that area.

We will keep you updated.
