SARASOTA CO., FL - In addition to an across the board pay raise of more than 3 percent for teachers, some teachers and other school staff members are getting an additional pay bump.

It's coming in the form of longevity pay, which is based on how long a person has been on the job.

The pay increases come ahead of a special election scheduled for March, where voters will soon be asked to continue paying an extra tax for schools.

7 South Newsroom Reporter Josh Taylor is on the story.
