Officers arrested 23-year-old Darion Lazier along with two minors, ages 15 and 17, and charged each of them with attempted murder after a shooting outside the Palmetto Youth Center on Saturday afternoon.

The beginning of the incident took place in the midst of youth football practice.

According to the Palmetto Police Department, a car with four occupants stopped in front of the youth center at approximately 2:30 p.m. Two passengers exited the car, then allegedly fired gunshots at two people walking in the parking lot, with bullets striking a tree and a parked car.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle after spectators at the game say they saw the shooters' car speed away west on 17th Street, but the driver wouldn't comply. The pursuit then continued into Bradenton, where deputies from Manatee County assisted. The chase ended in the 1600 block of 26th Avenue East when the suspects' vehicle hit stop sticks deployed by deputies.

That's when officers would arrest Lazier and the minors. Authorities also recovered two handguns.
